“in between”, project developed during the Masters in Fine Arts - Photography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Antwerp, is about the search for the self in contemporary times.
The increasing use of self-portraiture have become a tool to render our identity but the use of “instagram filters” makes a hard task for us to know our real aspect in the virtual world. Therefore, the project is entirely interconnected with the device and technique; with the automaticity of the production of images and by consequence, with the amount of images that are discarded. In an attempt to represent the discarded selfies that are still in the latent space waiting to be revisited, an Artificial Intelligence model (StyleGAN2) was used to search for a face that is not longer mine but that is in constant mutation.
